This is an OEM clear plastic splash guard that fits on top of the mixing bowl. It helps to stop ingredients from splashing out while mixing and makes it easy to add ingredients with its wide cut out. Due to its plastic construction, this part can crack or damage over time and may need to be replaced. To attach the splash guard, turn the control knob off, attach the bowl and desired attachment, and lock the mixer head into the downward position. Slide the splash guard over the bowl so it is centered, and the chute is positioned correctly. The inner perimeter of the splash guard should fit against the edge of the mixing bowl. The splash guard is designed so that it fits freely on the bowl to make assembly easier. When using the splash guard, make sure the mixer head fits into the opening, and the pouring chute is to the right of the attachment hub when you are facing the mixer. While you pour the ingredients into the bowl, be sure to hold the lid in place with your hands.
