Product Description
This is a genuine OEM worm following gear for your stand-up mixer. The gear is made of metal and is attached to the planetary shaft. This is an important part of the appliance as it helps to drive the beaters for your mixer. Over time, the teeth on the gear can become stripped or worn down, and it will need to be replaced. Signs that you may need to replace this gear are if the mixer is not spinning, or if it making excessive noise. Please be sure to unplug the mixer before beginning this repair.

Used a square bit on drill to unscrew trim piece from mixer
Used same bit to remove top of mixer and again to expose the gears.
Used special pliers to remove the retaining ring.
Pulled off the top gear
Slid out a pin
Pulled off the worm gear

Reassembled the mixer with drill.

I used paint thinner to clean up and wash the old grease, kerosene would also be acceptable. In my case I used a solvent tank with a pump, since I have one, but it would have worked with solvent in a pan and a solvent brush. Then I let the cleaned parts dry ov ...
