Door Handle

By design handle attaches to plastic door covering which flexes and breaks eventually. I repaired the covering, then marked location of the handle mounting points and drilled through holes in door covering and through metal door. Longer screws allowed new handle to be mounted so that it pulls on metal door, not weak door covering. Holes must be countersunk into back of door to allow it to close properly. Handle mounting screws only screw into plastic bosses on handle, a very weak and inadequate design. Also lower end of handle extended slightly over raised portion of door covering preventing it from mounting flush. I filed off about 1/8 inch from bottom of handle so it would mount flush with door covering surface.
