The old hood was broken where it screwed into the top so it clacked every time you opened the microwave door
I removed the old hood and then cleaned the area well with vinegar (ex husband liked to cook a lot of bacon on the stove and that area was disgusting!). After it was clean, I screwed in the new hood. Looks much better and no more clacking noise!

No problem.
Aligned two holes on vent grill to receiver holes on microwave, and attached using one screw on each side. Simple, straight forward, no fuss, no mess.

Broken vent fan shield
Took out the two screws holding the shield, removed shield, placed new shield on and replaced the mounting screws. Looks great.
