Replace The Broken Microwave Door Latch Pawl
I started by removing the grill above the door using a #2 philips head (cross) screwdriver to remove two(2) screws. Open the door all the way and lift it from the bottom until the hinge pins clear the hinge. This gets a little tricky especially if the hinge side of the door is close to a wall. Once the door is removed place it on a fla

t surface with the inside facing up. Using a putty knife slowly and carefully pry up the outer perimeter shield. There are a few (no sure how many) small clips that hold this shield in place. Once the shield is remove the latch pawl assembly is exposed. Slowly unhook the single spring from its hook and the latch assembly comes free. Make sure you pay attention to the positioning of the existing latch pawl so the replacement piece is installed in the same orientation. It is best to install the soring first and then hook in the latch pawl assembly. Pop back into position the shield assembly. Reverse the installation of the door from the removal process. Re-install the grill with the two(2) screws and close the door.

Replaced both sides of door latching mechanism; required disconnecting, removal, and re-connecting of control and display board. Everything went fine. Reset the timer and lightly tested the controls immediately after completion. All seemed ok. After a half-hour or so most controls had stopped working, and could no longer get to the
