As the armature rotates inside the motor housing, electrical current is transferred through carbon brushes. Excessively worn brushes can result in visible arcing, decreased performance, power fluctuations or a total loss of power to the motor. To ensure the proper replacement procedure, refer to the owner's manual and the parts diagrams for your model. Note, one durable carbon brush with an attached lead wire and a spring is included. A screwdriver will be needed to take apart and reassemble the housing when performing this repair. It is advised to replace both brushes at the same time to ensure an even wear.
