This petcock, also known as a fuel shut of valve, is used in generators to stop the flow of fuel from the pump to the carburetor. This means there won?t be stale fuel sitting in the lines or a carburetor while the generator is not in use for long periods. It will help keep your carburetor clean and running smoothly for years to come. You simply shut the valve and let the generator run, when the carburetor no longer has fuel in it the generator will stop running. Before starting any repairs make sure the spark plug is removed.
