old gear drive was cracked and busted
take off housing retaining screws (see parts diagram for locations) then release the chain sprocket retaining clip and remove socket to get to the gear drive. replace with new part and don't forget to transfer the washer. reassemble and tighten the housing screws and you should be back to chewing through some mean timber
