If the timer knob on your dryer has become damaged and is o longer working, swapping out for a new one is a simple repair. This genuine OEM part is gray in color and fits onto a D-shaped shaft. This part includes the clip used to mount the knob. The assembly is sold individually, up to three knobs may be present on your dryer model.

The timer knob broke off. I have the knob(I'll still get a new one), but I need the part it fits on to. How do I find that part number? Does it require the entire timer switch?

Replace Timer (Old one would not work with knob - Timer Shaft Stripped)
Remove the dryer cord or shut off breaker, then take off all of the knobs from the appliance front, remove the six screws from the back, lift up keeper in lower right corner and twist out of place, move wires from old to the new timer, push thru hole in appliance front and twist into place. Easy job, but take your time and work carefully. Twist the old timer off keeping the wire connections. Twist on the new timer and transfer the wires one at a time. Wires are on tight so you might need pliers.
First unplug power cord. I removed three Philips screws at top rear of control panel and tilted it forward. Then facing front of machine slide panel to the right to free bottom tabs. Its much easier to swap wires one at a time so as not to get confused about location positioning. Knob kept breaking, used pliers to turn timer and it got to hard to turn with knobs.
