Washer's excellent performance declined to nonperformance, also would not dissolve detergent
Suspecting washer was not getting enough water, and realizing our hot water heater had gone to pieces right after the washer began acting up, it occurred to me the water inlet valve may have been plugged by debris from the disintegrating water heater. Thought that was worth a try, since the current array of new dishwashers seem to be uni

versally disappointing to users. The how-to video demonstrated the procedure quite well, although the water connector arrangement was different. Also, the video has the appliance up on a platform, where doing this with the appliance in place on the floor requires a good deal of contortion just to see the valve and what your hands are doing in there, as there is an electrical box in front that obstructs access and view. A pair of kevlar (or chainmail!) gloves would have prevented quite a few cuts and scratches. Also I was fortunate to have a manual water shutoff and clearly marked dedicated electrical breaker. Be sure to turn the water shutoff on-off a few times to loosen it up and make sure the water is really off, and verify the breaker before going in. It is important to orient yourself with the new valve to figure out where everything is connected, as you cannot actually see what you are doing for the most part. The water supply tube had a ball-compression fitting to a right-angle adapter, which was in turn screwed to the bottom of the valve. As it would not be feasible to replace the ball fitting, I had to rotate the entire valve (after everything else was disconnected) several turns while gripping the right-angle fitting to unscrew it from the fitting, and the reverse to screw on the new valve. There was just enough space to do that. In any case, the replacement went without a hitch beyond what I've described, and our fine old Maytag is a new machine again!

Water filling dishwasher when not in use untill it overflowed during the night.
I took out the water fill valve to see if it was stuck. It didn't seem to be stuck, after taking it apart, so I figured it must have some dirt in it that is stopping it from closing. I just ordered a new one that night. The part was here the next day even though it said 5 days. It was easy to replace just pulled out the dishwasher from un

der cabinet, tilted on to the side and five min later it was fixed.(yes you can change it from underneath , but much easier to do it with washer out.) You need to close the water supply off and depending on the length of the supply hose may not let you pull out the washer from cabinet and the electrical line look to see.

Water eventually stopped spraying entirely in Dishwasher
about a month before I finally made the repair the dishwasher slowly used less and less water. I first noticed more spotting on the dishes and glasses making me change from powder to liquid soap. Finally one day, now water was being used. I goggled my model and no water and got this site and found the 3 leading parts that caused this prob

lem. I ordered the valve feeling pretty confident it was the problem but I also ordered the switch just in case. I ordered the wax motor as well thinking maybe that was defective too not using Jet Dry to get rid of the spotting, but after I changed the valve out, all my spotting went away. This site made the refunds for the switch and wax motor easy so I don't regret ordering them. This site made this fix so easy for me, otherwise I would be replacing parts unnecessarily or would have called a repairman. Instead I fixed it myself for less than 35 dollars! Thanks

Dishwasher will not fill
According to this site, this problem is fixed two thirds of the time by replacing the valve. One additional step is needed before ordering any parts - use a volt meter to verify that the valve is getting the 'open' [line voltage] command from the timer. Replacing the valve was quick [30 minutes + time to find tools] but when I turned the

breaker back on, it would not fill. Plugged in a meter in place of the valve, and wiggled the exposed parts of the harness, and voltage was indicated. Put the connector back on the valve, and it started to fill. It's possible that the new valve fixed things, but I'm leaving everything alone [with the old valve on the shelf] so long as it keeps working.
