This is an authentic OEM replacement part. This spring is known as a contain spring, it is commonly used in trash compactors. It is located at the bottom of the machine. When you release the contain latch this spring helps push the container out. Over time this spring may begin to lose tension, it is at that point it will need to be replaced. This spring is made out of metal, and it is sold individually. Before starting any repairs to your trash compactor make sure you have unplugged it or cut off the power supply.
