Product Description

This is a genuine OEM replacement part. This is a top burner surface ignitor, it is part of the burner assembly on ranges and cooktops. The burner ignitor uses electrical current to heat up and produce the spark you need to light the burner. If you notice that your burner is not creating the spark needed to light you may have an issue with your ignitor. If your ignitor is glowing but the gas is not lighting that also indicates your ignitor is not getting hot enough and needs to be replaced. Before beginning this repair unplug your appliance and shut off the gas supply. This surface ignitor is sold individually.

Igniter insulator was cracked, shorting out, not lighting burner
Remove enamel burner top (gravity placement) of burner where igniter has malfunction. Remove two (2) screws holding down burner body (phillips #2). This exposes the burner sub-housing, including the insulated igniter, that is below the stove top pan. Temporarily re-attach burner sub-housing to the stove top pan with same two (2) screws (w ithout the burner body, this is so that you have resistance for removing the insulated igniter). Remove the insulated igniter by removing one (1) screw (phillips #1), taking care not to drop this screw through the stove top pan opening. Lift the insulated igniter straight up. There is a wire attached to the insulated igniter with a pressure fitting terminal. Remove the male insulated igniter terminal from the female wire terminal. This may require gentle pulling and wiggling back and forth. Make sure you hold the wire and do not pull it all the way up above the stove pan. The terminals will come apart without special tools. Once removed, discard old insulated igniter and replace with new insulated igniter, making sure that the male and female terminals fit snuggly. This may require a pair of pliers to crimp the female terminal so that it provides a tight fit for the male terminal on the new insulated igniter. Reverse the process of mounting the insulated igniter to the sub housing with one (1) screw and remove the two (2) screws that are temporarily holding the sub-housing to the stove top pan. Place the burner body above the stove top pan, aligning it with the burner sub-housing screw holes below. Screw the burner body to the burner sub-housing with two (2) screws. Replace the enamel burner top (gravity placement).
