Bottom element of top oven, of a dual oven appliance wasn't heating up
Started by replacing the bottom element which was very easy. However when I turned on the oven, it popped and flashed behind the control panel. An appliance repair shop diagnosed the problem as a bad control board and gave me an estimate to repair of $550 plus tax. Was able to purchase the control board myself in about an hour...could probably do it again in 30 minutes or less. The hardest part was unplugging the wiring harnesses. Saved myself roughly $300 as a DYI.

After replacing blown heating element discovered control board damaged. Everything else worked but lower oven. Found damaged solder joints on board.
1.Turned off power to range.
2.Removed rear sheet metal thereby exposing four screws holding control board to range.
3.Took pictures of attached wiring to board.
4.Disconnected wiring and removed control board and carefully applied heat using electric heat gun to face of control board to soften adhesive holding blister pan el to board.
5.Installed blister panel on new board and reconnected wiring.
6. Reattached board and panel to range. Reattached sheet metal to back of range.
