Product Description

This is an authentic Briggs & Stratton replacement part manufactured for use with small engines. The ring set is used to seal and separate the cylinder and the crankcase. A damaged piston ring can allow combustion gasses to enter the crankcase causing a loss of compression and a loss of power. The piston ring can become damaged by a lack of oil which can cause the ring to score the side of the cylinder and can seize up the engine. This piston ring set is sold as an individual replacement part, please see model diagram for associative parts.

The top ring and middle ring both have a inside taper. Which way should the taper face. Up or down. Thanks

Hello Larry, thank you for your question. Most top compression rings have a dot on the surface that indicates the side that should face upward when installed. Our team has found that taper side up & flat side down. Good luck with this repair.
