This spring-governor is an OEM part which is designed for Briggs and Stratton engines that are commonly installed on a variety of lawn and garden equipment. It applies tension on the governor. The governor system is like a cruise control system. It maintains the speed by adjusting the carburetor. Over time it may wear out and stretch eventually requiring a replacement.
