This is an authentic Tanaka replacement part manufactured for use with outdoor power equipment. Piston rings are used with engine oil to create a seal between the cylinder and crankcase. A damaged piston ring can break the seal between the crankcase and cylinder, and that can lead to a loss of compression and potentially cause engine failure.
