Product Description

This is a genuine OEM replacement door gasket for your dryer. The gasket, also known as a door seal, is used to provide an airtight seal when the dryer door is closed. If the gasket has failed it can cause hot air to escape the dryer and allow for cooler room temperature air to be sucked in. This causes the dryer to run longer, which means it is less efficient. When replacing this part, we find it easiest to remove the door from the dryer and place it on a suitable work surface. Please note that you will need a high temperature adhesive to attach the gasket to the door, and this glue is not included with the gasket.

Hi..I have a dryer that the door won’t close and we have to tape it shut to dry clothes..what could the problem and solution be?
Fix.com logo
Hi Rudy, thank you for the question. If the dryer door does not stay shut when it is closed, it means the door latching mechanism is not working. Check the door catch in the door latch assembly. Usually, the door catch is attached to the front panel or the door. When the door is closed, the spring-loaded door catch closes and grips the door strike, which is mounted across it. The tension of the door catch keeps the door shut until it's manually opened. The dryer door strike is part of the door latch assembly. When the door is closed, the door strike is pushed into the spring-loaded door catch. If the door strike seems damaged, replace the strike. Let us know if you have further questions!

Had a frayed door seal
Removed the four [4] small screws holding the door to the unit. Laid the door on a flat surface, and slowly lifted the old seal out of the groove it was in....I cleaned the old glue that was holding the seal in place. Purchased a high temp clear glue from the local hardware store. The glue came in a tube that fits a caulk gun. I cut th e spout that a small amount of glue would come out, and I applied it in the groove. Then took my finger and ran it around the groove to spread the glue out,and make it some what even. I then laid the seal into the groove, and slowly pressed the seal into the glue. Taped the light switch,to the off position, Waited 12 hrs for glue to set, installed door....Works great.....
