Initially, I noticed that there was heat coming from the heating element, (with the Timer Dial in the Auto position), but the Start switch had NOT been pushed. The heat turned off when I turned the Timer Dial to th ... Read more e OFF position. This led me to think it was a thermostat or the actual Timer Dial. After realizing those weren’t the problem, I tested the heating element, and found that it was the problem.
I installed the new heating element by removing the front door, then removing the heating element assembly (removed the heater shield, then the screws that fastened it to the base). Then, with the wires still connected to the old heating element, I placed the new heating element assembly next to the old one. One by one, I moved the connections to the new unit (terminal connection wires, high-limit thermostat). Then, I fastened the new heating element assembly to the base, and replaced the heater shield).
