High Pitch Squeal Coming From Dryer
Disconnected the dryer. Unscrewed front screws inside the door on top. Took off front cover and top cover. 1st removed felt and installed new felt. The old felt came out quickly. I used a flat head screwdriver to push the felt in flat. I did not disconnect anything else. Then, I pushed the drum toward the front of the machine and pushed t he sides out a bit so it could come out of its sleeve. I did not remove the belt. You only need to move it forward enough to reach in and take out the old sleeve. Then, with a flashlight I was able to reach in and take out the old sleeve. I took a towel and wiped it clean and added lubricant and then installed the new sleeve an o-ring. Put everything back. Be careful the edges are sharp and my forearm got cut but no big deal.

Horrible squeaking and Lots of metal to metal ginding
Continued from previous submission. 6 tried to reassemble dryer and get belt back on drum. Failed. Went back and watched you tube video on replacing belt. Figured out how to do it. We have a gas dryer. So it was much hrfer than the video suggested cut my hand. Brushed my inner left forearm. 7. When got it all back together, realized I had solved the wrong problem. It was the front bearing. Lesson learned. Properly diagnose the problem before ordering parts. I'm happy I only spent an extra $25 to learn that lesson this time. The front bearing was much much easier to replace. It is so quiet how. Can hardly know its on. Wished I would have replaced it months ago.

Dryer squealing/squeaking while running
Removed the two front philip-head screws accessed by opening the door. Removed the top. Removed the two philip-head screws holding the front of dryer to the sides. Pulled the front panel -- no need to disconnect the 3 wires. Located and replaced the badly worn drum bearing slides. The slides were very badly worn -- only traces remain ed. I pulled the drum forward about 1/3 of the way out of the back to replace the bearing sleeve (which possibly did not need replacing, but hey...it was $5). The o-clip that holds the bearing in place fell apart, but I replaced it with a plumbing washer o-ring that I had as spares. Reassembled and presto! The dryer runs like new.
