Product Description

This kit includes the black plastic handle (white handle is no longer available from the manufacturer), the latch, and two switches. The door handle and latch assembly is a simple on/off mechanism that prohibits the dishwasher from operating when the door is open. Symptoms of a faulty door handle and latch assembly include the door not latching properly, being unable to close the door, leaking during operation, and the dishwasher not starting. It is common for the door latch to break down due to material fatigue and/or continually slamming or opening the door quickly. This part measure roughly 5.5 inches wide, 1.5 inches high and 2.5 inches deep. This OEM kit is sold as a single part.

handle was broken and wouldnt stay closed
1. Turned off breaker to dishwasher
2. removed 11 torque screws on inside panel
3. removed 2 electrical connections to handle part
4. replaced handle, restored 2 electric connections, replaced 11 screws, turned breaker back on and perfect

The handle mechanism broke on the inside. This would not allow the latch to engage when closed.
Step 1- shut off water and power source.
Step 2 - remove all door panel screws.
Step 3 - remove door absembly and detach the wire plug ins from the switches on each side. If replaing switches -watch for the side latches that hold then in place - they have 2 latches and are fragile.
Step 4 - once you have unplugged the swit ches - plug the replace part in.
Step 5 - put the door assembly in place
Step 6 - put the screws back in the door panel and you are ready for business

DW door would not lock....open handle was broken from the switch mechanism.
Instructions and exploded diagram of the DW door indicated what I needed to do. Removed 8 screws with hex driver and raised the inside cover of the door to expose the switch. Pulled the electrical wires, reinstalled new unit and replaced door cover. A child could literally follow those instructions. Thanks for your help. Tony

Handle broke
Turned off power to appliance. Removed screws holding door interior piece to door exterior. Removed broke handle and unplugged cables. Threw old handle away. Plugged in cables to new handle and screwed door back together. Total time to complete job was 5 minutes. Saved myself $140 by using part select. It was simple and easy. From now on I will always try and fix my appliances myself. Its not hard to change a broken part. And it will save you a lot of money.

Door switch/door lock
Shut off the power to your dishwasher. Remove the stainless star drive screws from the inside door perimeter, pull the inside plastic door back off and the mechanism will fall off in your hands.Change the power feeds to the micro switches one at a time. Set the door latch in place, replace the inside door cover and line up the screw holes .Replace the screws, check the door for proper closure and latch lock. Turn the power back on and run through a cycle to check for function and leaks. Have a coffee and relax, you're done!

Broken door latch
Needed to go buy an extension star bit to unscrew inside door panel to access the broken handle. Unscrewed the inside panel. Door handle assembly came out easily. Pulled off the two electrical connectors as shown in the video but found they have little blocks attached which also had to be pulled off the plastic posts they are attached to the assembly with - the little plastic blocks stay attached to the electrical connectors as they are pushed back on the new handle assembly. No need to go through opening or closing the handle on the new part as shown in the video. Screwed the panel back on the washer and was done. My wife was impressed at how good work I can do.
