Easier to use
The "old" style handle was cumbersome to attach & tighten because of the thumb screw method. In addition, the square nut was located inside of a "pocket" that would fall out if thumb screw was backed out too far. Lost several nuts & Milwaukee doesn't offer parts for the old style handle. It's now obsolete.
