Cracked stovetop--needed a replacement
First, we needed to get the whole cooktop assembly out of the counter top. It was glued down with tough caulk, so we had to use a knife and a box cutter to cut the caulk off. e wood planks to support it over the hole. Note: there may be some screws underneath holding it to the counter, so be sure to check for those and loosen them. There are some screws on the sides of the sheet metal under the glass, and those hold the glass to the rest of the assembly. Loosen those, and if they are screwed on too tight, use an adjustable wrench to loosen them, so you don't strip the screw. (The outsides of the screw are like hex bolts). Take off the glass and the metal that is glued to the bottom of the glass off the rest of the assembly, and put in the new glass. Screw the screws back in, take out the wood planks, and lower the whole assembly back into the hole. Switch on the power and test!
