My Dyson 65 roller ball, when plugged in and turned on , has power and suction , but when the 2nd button is engaged , the roller brush no longer comes on ! what is the best way to troubleshoot to see if switch or motor is bad ? Thank You ! .
Hello Billy, thank you for your inquiry. To troubleshoot the switch and the motor, you may need to conduct their continuity test. To test the motor, part number FIX12026616, set the multimeter to continuity mode. Once this is done, place one point on the frame of the motor and the other point on a known connection to the earth, preferably an area close to the motor installation. A good motor should result in a reading that is less than 0.5 ohms. If the value is greater than 0.5 ohms, however, this indicates that the motor’s insulation is failing and has the potential to cause an electric shock. Determining the causes of this failure may require further testing. For the switch, part number FIX12026510, set the multimeter to the lowest ohm rating. Activate the switch and touch the pins of the multimeter to the terminals of the switch. The reading for a switch with continuity needs to be zero and anything above this means the switch is faulty. You may need to replace the faulty motor or switch to fix the issue. We hope this information helps!
