Product Description

This genuine OEM drive coupling is used in your blender and attaches to the motor shaft in order to spin the blades. If your old coupling has become stripped or the teeth have cracked off, it should be replaced so that your blender runs properly. Remove the old coupling by using a flat blade screwdriver to pry it off. Use a cloth to wipe down the threads, ensuring there is no remaining debris. The new coupling has reverse threads, so it will be screwed on counterclockwise to the motor shaft. Please ensure that the appliance is unplugged before you begin any repairs.

When I discovered the coupling on by blender was bad, I threw the blender in the trash. Several hours later I retrieved it thinking I should be able to fix it.

drive coupling was worn

This is the second time we have replaced the drive coupling on the Kitchen Aid blender. It has been a few years. I love this blender and can not buy a new one for the price to repair .We are in our eighties, not as strong as we were, so once we got the coupling prized off it was a snap. Directions... just use screwdriver to pry off the coupling NOTE it is a LEFT HAND thread do this turn as you pry up

Stripped coupling teeth and broken jar collar

Rubber dry rotted and no longer turning the blades of the blender

Used a pry bar to help lift the old coupler while turning clockwise. Once the old one was off, carefully cleaned the area and replaced it with the new coupler by turning counter clockwise. My screwdriver was not big enough to help get the old one off as suggested by the written instructions that came with the new part.

Worn out drive coupling

Used a dial caliper to determine the size of the open end wrench needed to hold the motor shaft under the coupling. It measured 9mm. I had to grind down the flats of the wrench in order to insert it under the drive coupling within the length of the flats on the shaft. After that the replacement was very easy. My recommendation is to include the wrench with the drive coupling. The 9mm wrench cost me $5.00.

The drive coupling broke

I used the flat head screwdriver to pry the old coupling off, cleaned the threads off & hand tightened the new coupling on. Very easy!
