The igniter pulls current from the ignition circuit, the more current it pulls the hotter the element gets. When it starts to glow and it reaches a certain temperature the gas valve will open and this igniter will create the spark needed to light the gas. When you are installing this replacement part you will need to reuse the original mounting bracket, and you will need a screwdriver. This ignitor is approximately 7.5 inches in length, it is flat in style, it has a 5-1/4-inch ceramic block, and it features 12-inch wire leads.
