GFWH2405L0MV General Electric Washer - Instructions

I Disconnected power to machine and shut off water supply lines. Move washer away from wall and removed supply lines.(good time to replace them if older than five years) Where these supply lines attach to the washer is the water valve you are replacing. There are 3 screws on the back of the cabinet lid, then on the front 3 more screws hold the lid to the plastic control housing. After removing screws you need to slide the lid up and towards the back of the machine app. 1 1/2"to 2" before you can raise the lid up and off of the machine. Once the lid is off it is just one screw holding the valve, and a hose clamp that needs removed from the end of the valve. Then slide valve to the right (looking from front of machine to the back.) I left the wires attached to the old valve,installed the new valve then reattached the wires in the same order as they were on the old valve to avoid confusion. (note valve must slide into place to get screw to line up.)assemble is reverse of the above steps. Don't forget to level machine. Be careful attaching water supply lines plastic valve threads can strip without much effort.

I unplugged the power cord from the wall outlet, then I had to remove the top panel off the machine by removing the three phillips screws holding the back trim strip to the front top of the machine, than I removed the three 1/4 inch head screws holding the top panel found at the back top of machine. I now pulled the top pannel to the rear and removed the top pannel. Then I used pliers to squeeze open and slide clear the small clamp to the rubber hose to the valve and removed the hose end to the valve. Then I carefully pulled off the four wire connectors to the two solenoids of the valve.
Than I removed the one 1/4 inch head screw found on the back side of the machine securing the valve to the machine. Then I removed the valve by sliding it to the mounting screw side to disengage it.
Install the valve in reverse order but I tightened the valve holding screw only till it's seated because it screws into soft plastic. 6/15/08

Remove bottom kick plate of washer. Remove 4 screws behind door that hold the latch/lock assembly. Reach up inside the washer from underneath to unplug 3 wire connectors. (This is a very tight spot). Once wires are off, part comes right out. Connect wires to the new part - this is by far the most difficult part of the job because it is way up inside the washer. Replace all bolts.
Overall, pretty easy to do - just reconnecting the wires is a pain, but if you are patient it is not a big deal.

Part came quickly, was exactly what I needed, 2 minutes later, washing clothes again.

Followed the directions from this site shown on you tube.

Unplug machine.
Remove band from front bellows by prying the spring at 6:00 o:clock loose.
Pull back bellows on right side.
Remove 3 torx screws and gently pull door each lock assembly out. Unplug 3 wire harness connectors and plug into new latch lock in same order.
Screw new latch lock in place and replace bellows and band.
Done

Did not have to use the new pump filter. The old one finally worked. I probably didn’t screw it in tight enough.

Before disassembling anything be really sure that the little things are reassembled just as they were prior to removal.....

The white door plunger broke after 3 years of use. After replacing the door plunger the door still would not close. so I also ordered the door lock part for inside the washer. This was also an easy replacement but far more expensive. A thing to note. If the door plunger breaks you may need to reset you locking piece. and save your self 130 dollars. To do this. remove the top panel of the washer. remove the control panel. remove the spring ring around the rubber seal. disconnect the door locking piece and remove from washer. now use a hook or stiff wire and loop inside the door plunger hole and pull the lock out. if it wont release ensure the white piece on the bottom is lowered all the way. This is also possible to reset with out removing but you wont be able to check the white piece(the lock holder). What ever you do do not take apart the locking piece it has lots of little parts an will give you nightmares.

Step 1- pull washer away from wall. Step2- unplug power, shut off water and disconnect lines, and disconnect drain line. Step 3- unscrew 3 screws from bk and 3 screws from behind control panel. Step 4- remove back of control panel and top of washer. Step 5- unplug wires from old valve and plug into new valve to avoid wrong connection take out screw from back releasing old valve , insert new valve and put back screw. Step 6 put top of washer and back of control panel on and insert screws. Step 7- reconnect hoses and drain , plug washer in and test. All done. I recommend adjusting to level if necessary at this point before pushing back against wall. Good luck. Hope this helps somebody. Jon

I followed the instruction on your site. I disconnected the power to the washer turned off the water turned on the nearest faucets to drain the lines. I removed the water hoses from the machine then took the three screws out of the back at the top of machine that held the lid on then removed the three screws on the top of the lid that hold the plastic piece to the front panel and pushed the lid toward the back and it lifted off. I then took the metal ring clamp off the water line attached to the water inlet valve and took the screw out that is on the back of the machine holding it on removed the wire plugs one at a time and put them one at a time on the new inlet valve so I would not get them mixed up. I then put the valve in place reconnected the water hose and metal clamp put the screw in the back to reattach valve the machine put the lid back on in reverse to removal reattached water hoses to the inlet valve turned the water back on plug in the power and immediately used the machine which works like new 20 minute job from beginning to end. By the way ladies if I can do it you can do it. TC

The cycles were taking forever, then would not finish, water running in even when it was supposed to drain. Unplugged washer and water would still run, I had to turn off the water valve. I just removed the top with phillips screwdriver, removed the old valve by uncoupling the water hose, the two electric connectors and the two one screw holding it in place. It fixed the problem completely, washer working 100% now.

Followed your instruction, very easy. I installed Camco 90" & 45" Brass elbows to relieve strain on hoses.
