After taking the blade off there is a black gear and a c shaped black object over and behind the blade. What is that for ?

Hello Roger, Thank you for the question. The Gear is the Blade Gear, Fix Number: FIX10507332 and behind that is the Blade Cover, Fix Number: FIX10507331 to protect the blade.
