Bottom heat element
Turn the breaker off to the oven.Removed both wire racks, using a 1/4 nut driver unscrewed the old element. The flashlight was so I could see inside the oven.Having removed the two screws ,the old element came right out. With my needle nose pliers removed the wires one at a time, replacing them on the new element as they came off.Replaced the two screws holding the element ,replace my wire rack, turned the breaker back on.As for the price for the part ,it was less than a service call from a repairman, which would not have included the part.

Replacement of Coils
Removed by slightly wiggling out of the coupling. No tools needed, seriously, (and I'm a contractor). Basically, pull out and snap back in.

Botton element melted in half.
First I turned off the circut breaker. Then removed the two wire racks. Then I removed the two 1/4" hex head screws holding the rear of the element in place. Pulled the element out far enough to remove the two wires. Discarded the old element. Installed the new element in the reverse order and turned the breaker back on. Took no more than 10 minutes. Ordering the part was easy. The diragrams with measurements of the part made it easy to insure that I was getting the right part. I'm sure I save myself at least a $65 plus service call. Not to mention a mark up on the part itself. I will use this website in the future if needed. Thanks

Fastening screws loosened and handle end caps fractured
I dis asymbled the door to access the broken end cap screw holders(plastic) Take great caution with the door glass. It is held in place by thin stamped steel slots and when taking the door face apart, the glass is free to fall out. I placed four strips of adhesive tape on the glass to hold it in place while I replaced the handle end caps. Use an electric screwdriver to place the retainer screws. It speeds up the work, and allows your other hand to stabilize the door. Caution to not over torque the steel screws. They screw into plastic and can strip easy. Another point: These replacement End Caps did not come with any supporting hardware - screws. I was lucky in that I retained the original screws and they were in good condition and could be recycled. Very impressed with the service, would recommend to all. Frighteningly fast delivery. I was shocked to see the box on my porch in just a few days.

The Drip pans were unusable due to excessive use, and I decided to replace the Surface Elements as well.
There was nothing to it...I unplugged the Sufrace Elements from thier bases, removed the Drip Bowls, replaced the Drip Bowls and then plugged the Surface Elements back in to thier bases. The entire process could not have taken more than two minutes.

glass door plate spontaneously shattered
the hardest part about this install was removing the glass from the channels. it seemed someone at the factory thought it would be a good idea to glue the panel into the receiver channels. they were wrong. it's supposed to be a floating panel. all you need to do is remove the entire door by lifting it at a slight angle off of its carrier arms. shake out and vacuum any loose glass, but please be careful. just because it's supposed to be safety glass doesn't mean it won't still cut you. take a straight blade screw driver and dislodge any stubborn remnants from the channels. completely remove the bottom channel. with your door in an upside down position, insert the replacement panel into the top channel, making sure you have it facing in the right direction and that the window lines up with the door window. place the lower channel on the exposed end of the panel. make sure both channels completely receive the panel. center the panel in the opening and carefully replace the screws in the lower channel. do not over tighten. turn your door right side up and re-install on the carrier arms. nice job. you just saved yourself a ton of cash. took me all of ten minutes. shouldn't take you a whole lot longer.

Right front burner out.
Ever the optimist, I'd replaced the burner on this relic of another time to no effect. That left the switch. You guys should know that when a burner element goes bad it can take out the switch. I should have put a meter on it. Wehn I looked for a replacement a few months ago there were still factory parts available, but they were $80 or so and I wasn't inclined to risk that on a 40 year old range. I offered to replace the raange for my daughter as a Christmas present but she like this old thing. It was an unusual size with a pan storage compartment on the left. I went on line and found this universal replacement for about $25 delivered. What the heck. I ordered it and it arrived within a week. I pulled the stove out, killed the breaker, pulled the knob off, used a nut driver to take ther rear panel off, two phillips screws under the knob hold the switch in. The terminals on the old switch are in a slightly different order but are clearly marked L1, L2, H1, H2 and P. The P is the power and has a smaller terminal so you can't put it on the wrong one. Just examine the old switch ( it was marked the same way) take off the L1 and put in on the L1 of the new switch and so on, make sure you use the correct knob adapter to fit your old knob and break the switch stem to the correct length. It will break easilly if you hold it with one pliers and break it with another. Screw the new switch in place with he old screws. At this point, I closed the breakers and tested it. It worked fine. I turned the breakers off again. Buttoned it up and slid the stove back into place. 20 minutes tops. Great product. Good for another forty years.

Twice I ordered the oven light bulb & each time the light bulb was defected
I had to call for a appointment for repair with GE Appliance because I thought then it . .was something electrical. The technician came out & checked everything out, turned out it was not electrical, The technician went out to his truck got a light bulb from his truck, put it in & it worked. It cost me $121.00 for trip charge from GE appliance for a light bulb that worked, your light bulbs were defective twice. Very disappointed with your products, cost me alot of money for a good light bulb thru GE appliance

My previous heating element, broke while a family member was trying to clean it.
This was so easy. First pull stove out and disconnect plug in from the wall. Then, I removed the two screws that hold the element in place. I then pulled the element out about 3 inches and disconnected the two wires. Then I installed the new one in reverse order.

The door handle was broken on the left
I did not know what kind of tool was needed to remove the screws so I asked at the hardware store. When i said the screw was star shaped, he sold me torque wrench with multiple heads. First I removed the screw holding the broken handle in place. I cleaned surfaces. Next I attempted to put the handle in place on the horizontal bar and then put the screw into the opening. That did not work. I jiggled the handle for a while but could not get the pegs into the holes. Finally, I just held the handle in place and began to turn the screw and the handle slid into place as the screw got tighter.

We had been searching for burner bowls for our GE range (10+ years old) and could not find replacements for them. I found the burner bowls we needed on partselect.com . I was able to easily place the order and the burner bowls were delivered to me the next day.
No repair necessary, but the service was excellent!
