The plastic filter springs which held the washable filters broke
I completely removed the remaining pieces of plastic spring, cleaned the entire area with 409, let that dry and then used the alcohol wipe to remove any remaining residue. Peeled off the backing of the metal three springs, positioned them over the rivets that previously held the plastic springs, pushed them onto the rivets and held them in place for about 30 seconds until the adhesive worked. Left the filters out for about an hour and then slipped them into place. Everything worked as it was designed.
