The rheostat controlled light failed
As I removed the broken part, I marked each wire indicating the color of the wire nut I would use for the installation of the replacement switch. With the new part, I connected the 2 yellow marked wires to the yellow supply wire. (It was "hot" - surprise!!) I connected 1 orange marked wire to one of the 2 corresponding orange wire. I then

tested the switch and realized I had connected the light wire to the vent supply wire. I switched to the light supply wire, connected the fan control correctly. Life is good in my kitchen: cool and bright!

Two striped out screw heads
Purchased a screw extractor set from the local Ace Hardware (SpeedOut). Be sure and carefully follow the screw extractor instructions as written (counterclockwise turn). Removed old screws and replaced them with new screws supplied by PartSelect.
