Jointer won't start. checked switch, where do I go now?
For model number 37-070
Hello Doug, thank you for reaching out. If the switch is ok, make sure the switch key is inserted. The switch key is a safety tool for unauthorized use of the tool. If the switch key is missing, it will prevent the jointer from running. If this is not the issue, with the switch off, measure/check the presence of 120/240 power at the plug side of the switch. If it is fine, with the switch in the ON position and the motor not running, carefully check for power at the motor terminals. If power is not present, the wire/connection to the motor assembly, part number FIX10319227, is faulty. If power is present at the motor terminals, and the motor does not run, the fault is on the motor. At this point, you need to take the motor apart. If the motor does not hum when the jointer malfunctions, then neither the running nor starting winding is exited. The problem is most likely at the motor's connection block to which both the running and starting winding are connected. We hope this solves your problem!
