Will not heat up, possible problem??
For model number DW5080U1

Hello Robert, Thank you for your inquiry. Many Rowenta irons have an automatic shut-off feature that turns the iron off if it sits too long. It's possible that while you were carefully positioning a garment on the ironing board, your iron turned itself off. To correct the problem, simply pick up your iron and give it a little shake. It should light up and come right back on. If it doesn't, try turning up the iron's heat setting. If all else fails, plug the iron into a different electrical outlet. If that does not fix the issue, try replacing the steam valve, the handle front and pump, or the power cord. We hope this helps and if you need help placing an order for a part, customer service is open 7 days a week. Please feel free to give us a call. We look forward to hearing from you!

How do I get the back plate off? Will the power cord work for DW5080?
For model number DW5080U1

Hello Elizabeth, thank you for your question. Look for a single torx-style screw. Once that screw is removed, the back plate should gently pop off by prying on the edges. The correct power cord is FIX12051843. We hope this helps.

Unplug unit from a power supply. There is only one screw at the base/rest of the iron. Remove that screw. Then gently pry off that plastic base cap. Once removed, the wiring is exposed. y has two flat clips that "catch" the wiring from being pulled out of the handle. Simply take a small flat bladed screwdriver and slightly lift those two flat "catches". That will release the rest of the wire harness. Discard this wire harness and prepare to install the new one. First, slide the long wire portion down into the handle cavity until it stops. Second, press the other wire harness portion over it's two clips until you hear/sense that the two flat "catches" have secured this portion of the harness. Reattach base and secure with the screw you previously removed. Plug in and test by looking for Power-On light.
