CIC4K (P7621311W) Amana Ice Maker - Instructions

First I unplugged the refrigerator. Then I disconnected the flat plug. Then I loosened two screws and removed the origional ice maker. After the old ice maker was out I reversed the process and installed the new ice maker. The instructions said that it could take up to 24 to 48 hours before you have your first batch of ice. Two hours after the installation I had my first cycle of ice. One of the easiest repairs I have ever done!

first unscrewed the 3 hex head screws. The problem that delayed everythhing for a few days ways that the wiring harness would not come loose from the side of the freezer. I called our service man and he was kind enough to tell me to disconnect the wiring harness from the ice maker instead of the freezer. With that knowledge , the replacement went quickly. I would suggest that you include that info on your site. Unplug the wiring harness from the icemaker and not the freezer.

Followed the directions in the package. Turned off the power, removed two screws following the directions and replaced the entire unit. So easy even a Cave Man can do it. No kidding, and the best part was the fact that our local distributed wanted almost $20.00 more for the same part and I'd have to drive over a hour 40 miles to get it.

First I removed the ice catcher bucket to give myself a little room and lifed the ice maker lever to make sure it wouldn't try to produce ice while I was replacing it.

I removed the bottom screw and loosened the top two with a nut driver. The ice maker lifted right out and allowed me to disconnect the electrical plug; just squeeze the little plastic levers on both sides of the plug and pull.

I plugged in the electrical connection from the new ice maker. Making sure the water spout was in place, I dropped the new unit over the two loosened top screws. I then replaced the bottom screw and tightened all three. I replaced the ice catcher bucket and made myself a martini as a reward for not spending the $75.00 to $100.00 for a service call.

Within a couple of hours it was again making batches of ice for more martinis; it was a day or so before there was enough for frozen Margueritas.

I never even unplugged the refrigerator or shut off the water supply, although I suppose it would be prudent but not necessary. Some people like me just like to tempt fate.

The repair was so quick I didn't even worry about emptying the freezer. It was so easy even a girl could do it ... no offense intended. At the equivalent of $300.00 to $400.00 per hour I wish I could do it all day. Maybe I should be a "refrigerator repairman".

Seriously, the only thing that could hamper you is a lack of confidence which will quickly be overcome in 10 to 15 minutes by a huge ego. That time frame includes locating the tools and taking a few deep breaths. Don't hesitate to give it a shot. If you can't do it you really don't deserve to have ice. It really is that simple and easy.

After removing the old ice maker, I pulled off the wiring harness and plugged it into the new unit. The new unit went in place of the old with 3 screws. This was the only repairs needed. It started talking to the frig and we had our first batch of ice in minutes.

The ice maker plugged in easily , the most time was spent drilling hole in floor and running water line to pipe. In 4 hours ice was being made.

I kept the old unit and removed the Flat Cord Connection from it and install the old Flat Cord Connection in the new unit. Installed new unit in freezer section (3 screws) plug in Flat Cord Connection to freezer. Started making Ice in about 4 hours. Being an electrician helped.

I cut apart the plug on the new icemaker without damaging the wire ends and threw the plug away. Then I cut the wires on the plug on the old icemaker and rescued the plug. Then I pushed the wires on the new icemaker into the old plug and plugged it into the wiring harness plug that was already in the refrigerator. Then I installed the icemaker with the three screws. It started working about 3 hours later.

I did not do the repair yet, there is no schematic on how to route the hose; also no description of how to do the routing/connections.

I took out the old one and put in the new one. For some reason the repair story associated with the ice bucket had nothing to do with ice buckets.

Needed ice maker bucket for extra fridge. Part came the next day, and worked perfectly.

Replacing the ice making portion of the kit was a snap. Loosen the top two screws, no need to remove them completely. Remove the bottom screw, unplug the connector and remove the unit. Reverse to insert the new unit.
The water valve is a different issue. Our frig is a bottom freezer model. The kit supplied (model IC3) is for a top freezer model. I was unaware of this until the kit arrived. Well written instructions come with the kit. As noted above the main assembly is full fit and function for the bottom freezer Amana. However, the valve on our unit is different than that supplied with the kit. As the icemaker now works I did not attempt replacing the valve. It looks like the difference in valves is the manifold portion and it should be possible to switch the old manifold for the one supplied. All in all a pleasant experience except that more detail could be included on the web (perhaps a PDF of the instructions?). Delivery was very quick.

Replaced Ice maker 3 screws out and 3 back in no real problem. Although the part was listed for our machine the electrical cord was not long enough so just took the old long one and replaced the short one that came with the ice maker.

Removed three screws, unpluged ice maker power cord, pluged in new unit, replaced three screws. Had ice in an hour. That was it.

Purchased Ice Maker. What I didn't realize was the ice maker was for a top mount freezer and I had a bottom freezer. The ice maker is the same EXCEPT the wire harness is about 2 inches shorter. Didn't figure this out until flat on my back trying to force the plug to meet up with the plug in the freezer compartment.
Solution was to remove old wire harness and put in on the new ice maker. Took 5 minutes to swap wire harness and 5 minutes to reinstall.
About 1 hour later we heard the kathump of new ice being produced.
