There is a galvanized plate under the burner plate. A hole is in it for the drip cup hanger to go thru. Mine has rusted out in the center. I presume that this a draft plate is to keep the burners from blowing out. It has 2 phillips head screws in the front with an insert pressed in. At the back there is 3 screws and nuts to hold it in place.
