this is a northern tool generator with a 420cc honda clone engine. it was running too lean from the factory, and would not idle properly and ran too hot
Like I said, this engine was way too lean from the factory. Being a honda clone engine, I was pretty sure honda carb jets would fit, I was right. A simple matter of removing the carb bowl and unscrewing the jet and installing the jet of your choice. The too lean factory jet was a 103. I ordered a 105 and a 108 to have options, I installed the 108 and it is perfect. The engine starts on the first pull, runs smooth and I can adjust the idle as low as I want to and it stays smooth. The exhaust is cooler and the exhaust even has a quieter note to it. This engine should last a long time now. On to the next projects. I ported the exhaust can on my husky chainsaw yesterday, and it definitely has more power now. Life is short, just do it!
