The freezer door was catching when opened and frost was building inside telling me that the seal wasn't good.
I called the local GE dealer for repair. The repair person arrived and told me that he could not get the part. The freezer was too old. Then he charged me $60 for coming out. I went online and did a search for parts with the model number above. I found Partselect.com and the diagrams showed which part I needed. It was in stock and I ordered it. My husband and I removed the door to the freezer, pushed the part into the hole at the bottom of the door and put the door back on its hinges. It works perfectly. Thank you.

freezer would turn itself off periodically
Well, first I tried with replacing the temp sensor, a simple little connecting inside the box, but it didn't work. I then shut it down, removed all food and took the inside cover off exposing the controls in the back of the freezer, only needed an electric screw driver with a variety of bits. I located the "cold control" part and dismantled it making sure I kept notes on how to reassemble it. I ordered the replacement, with concurrence from a nice lady with Parts Select that it would no doubt fix my problem. She was right. After 4 months no problem with it turning itself off. I used a few electrical nut connectors and I needed some plumbers putty where the electric lines exit to insulate the cold control device, there was some of the original putty but it fell apart when I disassembled the unit. I guess it boils down to the old process of elimination, but getting advise here will be my future first move if anything goes wrong.

The freezer was missing the key
I ordered a pair of new keys from Parts Select and found the website extremely easy to use. I found the key I needed in less than 10 minutes and ordered the item. The key woked perfectly. Delivery was prompt and the cost was resonable. I have bookmarked the site for future use. thank you. James
