Why would i be getting ice build up around the evaporator fan and fan mount ? Freezer is less than 2 years old . There was enough ice to stop fan from working.
For model number FFFU20F2VW0
Hello Brad, Thank you for your inquiry. It sounds like the freezer isn't defrosting correctly so we would recommend checking the defrost thermostat and the defrost heater. You can test the parts with a multimeter. If you are unfamiliar with how a multimeter functions, we have videos available to assist you. Good luck with your repair.

Freezer components will run in service mode. Once out of service mode freezer will not cool. Am i correct in thinking the control board is the culprit?
For model number FFFU20F2VW0
Hello Jake, thank you for contacting us. Yes, the most probable cause of the issue is a faulty control board, part number FIX16555732. It manages the functions of the freezer such as the temperature settings and defrosting cycle time. Please reach out to customer service if you need help placing an order. Glad to be of help!

I have ice build-up under the defrost coil. It appears it's not draining. How do i unplug it?
For model number FFFU20F2VW0
Hello Martin, thank you for your question! When the water builds up and begins to block the flow, you will experience problems with the drain. If the hole is clogged, a buildup of ice or frost might be clogging or blocking the defrost drain. If this is the case, simply use a butter knife or other tool to dislodge any ice or frozen buildup from the drain. Then rinse out the defrost drain with water. Your fridge's defrost drain should now be running correctly. You do not need to unplug the defrost coil. Poor cooling is often the result of a heavy frost buildup on the evaporator coils. You can not see these coils without removing a panel on the inside of your freezer. A sure sign that there is a build-up is the presence of any frost or ice build-up on the inside walls, floor, or ceiling of the freezer. Such a frost buildup usually indicates a problem in the self-defrosting system or damaged door gaskets. Here is a way to determine if the problem is with the self-defrosting system: remove all of the perishable food from the refrigerator and freezer, turn the thermostat in the refrigerator off, and leave the doors open for 24 to 48 hours. (Be sure to have several towels ready in case the melting frost and ice cause the drip pan to overflow.) This allows the refrigerator to defrost "manually." When the frost and ice buildup have completely melted away, turn the thermostat back to a normal setting. If the refrigerator then cools properly, it indicates a problem with one of the components in the self-defrosting system: the defrost thermostat, part number PS12746820, or the defrost heater, part number PS12751639. We hope this helps!
