Can the Craftsman edger still be used if the edge guide is removed?

The edge guide is only used to help maintain a straight cutting path along sidewalks and hard surfaces; it is not required for the blade or motor to operate. However, without the guide, you may have less control and accuracy when edging along curbs or sidewalks. You can still use the unit for landscaping, trenching, and general edging tasks.
