Dryer power comes on but doesn’t start? What could it be
For model number GFDR485EF1RR
Fix.com logo
Hello Travis, thank you for contacting us. The issue is probably related to a blown door switch, part number FIX8756665. It prevents the dryer from running when the door is open. We would also recommend checking the idler switch, part number FIX8767579. The idler switch will open if the belt is broken and not letting the unit run. If this does not help, please check the thermostat, part number FIX8767580. We hope this sorts out your problem!

Loud banging/thumping noise when dryer was running. Bearings on tub rollers worn out. Poor design.
Could tell from the sound it was making that it was related to drum rotation. Searched online videos on how to disassemble this model GE Dryer. The Dryer drum rides on 4 rollers. 2 of the 4 of mine were very noticeably loose and made a similar noise when I spun them by hand. Simply replace the rollers and re-assembled.

I could type out instructions, but it's much simpler to just search for the right video online.

The edge of the original lint filter had separated causing lint to fall inside.
There was no repair. I simply replaced the old filter with a new one.
