My dehumidifier keeps turning itself off. After about five minutes. The bucket full is not lit up. What do i do?

It could also be because the filter or mechanism on the dehumidifier has become clogged or broken. . Keeping your filter clean and clear of debris can help your unit perform better. If your room is too cold (typically below 65 degrees) you may see frost form on the coils of your dehumidifier. If you suspect this is the case then switch off the dehumidifier and then move it into a warmer area while you heat the room you need to dehumidify up to above 65 degrees. Serial #rf 000240 - unit inoperable: No water out, filter clean, all controls appear operative, room temperature normal, no misuse, serial # rf 000240. Purchased about 5 years ago. If not diy repair not feasible, i will replace with new unit.

Hello Harold, thank you for contacting us. Before replacing the unit, we would recommend checking the float, part number FIX3512331. It monitors the water level in the bucket and trips the float switch when the water level reaches the maximum level. When faulty it can stop the dehumidifier from working. Support prong broke on float
1st of all, glued the broken prong that secured the float. Worked temporarily before breaking again. Started to trash the dehumidifier then looked online using the Model number. Parts select appeared thru the search and to my surprise, the part was available for under $20.00.

Ordered part and replaced it with ease. Works gr eat!

had to replace original water float as the connector broke off
my model is so old it is no longer part of the GE inventory but looking at the photos on line - which are very good and detailed - and chatting with on line help decided to go ahead and order and it fit perfectly
