Porcelain sleeve broke
Due to the age of the appliance, the screws were almost fused to the burner. I used a spray lubricant and broke the screws free with an impact screw driver. It was pretty easy with this type of driver. This avoided stripping the screws which would have occurred with a regular screw driver. The installation was easy and it all works li ke a charm!

the grate broke in pieces
There was no repair to do. All I had to do was toss the broken grate and place the other one on top of the burner. I was very impressed with how easily it was to find the new grate on this site, and how quickly my part came. I had a huge party in 3 days and without having to pay for expedited shipping, it was at my doorstep in 2 days. Awe some service!

Replacing sheared off screw
The rangetop was about 20 years old and one of the igniter attaching screws sheared off as I tried to unscrew it. I had to drill out the screw body stuck in the burner and retap the hole with a 4-40 tap. The other screw, I used penetrating oil on and it came out using an impact screwdriver. One must take off all the range top knobs, burn er grates and drip ringsthen. Then use a philips screwdriver to remove both of the wire covers (grate supports) to get at the wire holes and igniter coil on the right. Next, tape the new wire (about 4 inches overlap) to the old wire and pull the new wire through as you're pulling the old wire out from under the rangetop passage - from left side to right side. The rest is easy. attach the right side of the new wire to the same igniter coil terminal as the old wire and put the covers back on, keeping the left side of the wire handy near the burner it came off of. Put the burners back in, attach the wires, lower the top and put the drip rings, grates and knobs back and test. Done.
