How to determine which valves are bad, intake or exhaust on either pump head?
For model number JC20
Hi Donald, thank you for the question. We would suggest running the compressor for 2 to 3 minutes to let it build pressure. Identify an abnormally hot head, which indicates leaking valves causing re-compression of air. Check the air filter inlet; a hot air filter housing means a bad intake valve is venting hot air backward. Remove the air filter assembly from the pump head. Start the compressor and feel the open intake port with your hand. Feel for air blowing out of the intake instead of only sucking in. Diagnose a bad intake valve if air blows out of the filter port. Diagnose a bad exhaust valve if the compressor pumps very slowly, building low pressure while the head gets extremely hot. We hope this information helps!
