Compressor runs for a few minutes, then stops. Turn off the switch, wait a few minutes, then turn back on. Runs for a few minutes and turns off again. Keeps doing this. Doesn't build up much pressure before turning off. Any ideas? Thanks, todd.
For model number PXCMF220VW

Hi Todd,
Thank you for your question. If the air compressor runs and then shuts off, you will first need to check the pressure switch. If the pressure switch is working correctly, power should cross to the motor side of the switch. If the tank pressure is at the normal cut-out pressure or above it, power should not be passing the pressure switch. If the power is on and the tank is empty, the compressor should run. If it does not, you will need to use a multimeter to see if the power reaches the motor side of the switch. If it is not reaching the motor side of the switch, then the switch has failed and you will need to replace it. A failed switch can cause the compressor to turn on and off. If power does go to the motor, then the motor is overheating. If it is overheating, the compressor has an overload switch that will cut power to the compressor. If the motor is overheating, make sure that the compressor is ventilated cool area. Make sure that the air compressor is plugged in and the compressor is on. Do not plug the air compressor into an extension cord as this will cause fluctuations in power. Make sure that it is plugged directly into an electrical outlet. Also if it has been running for an extended period of time, the motor will overheat and cause it to shut down. If you have any questions, please let us know. We are open 7 days a week. We look forward to hearing from you!

Do you sell the overload switch for these compressors? Pressure switch is working fine, power coming out the motor side of it, but the compressor keeps cutting off. Have to switch off for a while then back on, it will work for a minute or two and cut off. I'm thinking that little plate with the contact behind the motor is the culprit
