Hi Willie, Thank you for your question. If your air conditioner will not start, there are some parts that you will need to check to see which one is causing the issue. Here is a link that you may reference on what parts may be causing the issue and how to check them, https://www.fix.com/repair/appliance/air-conditioner/does-not-turn-on/. There are only a few parts listed under your model number and if the part you need is not listed, you will need to contact GE for information. Their telephone number is 1-800-626-2005. If they provide you with a part number for the part, please feel free to contact us and we will verify if we carry it. We are open 7 days a week and anyone will be happy to assist you. We look forward to hearing from you!

We moved into a new house, and this GE window ac (ash10axq1) was plugged into an existing outlet. The unit ran for about a minute before shutting down completely. None of the buttons on the unit turned on or worked, but the breaker in the power cord was not tripped. I unplugged the unit and tried another outlet; there was no signs of the unit trying to power up. I checked the voltage in the first outlet and it was 250v; the wrong outlet was installed. I opened the unit for inspection, and i saw no damage to the control board, fuse, or the display board; no blown capacitors or burn marks. Using a multi meter, i verified the power cord was still sending power to the unit. Visually, the unit seems fine, but nothing is powering on. What other checks/troubleshooting could i do to fix this unit? Can this unit possibly be fixed after being plugged into the wrong outlet with 250v?

Hello Martin, thank you for writing. For portable 240/250-volt plug-in air conditioners like those that fit into windows, 20-amp circuits are typical. In either case, the circuit must be dedicated to the air conditioner unit. To be in compliance with Code, the circuit cannot serve any other appliances or fixtures in your home. There are no electronic parts available for this unit. We hope this helps.
