Ah, the great outdoors. There’s nothing quite like spending time lazing on the beach or sitting around a campfire roasting marshmallows. But what happens when your perfect day is interrupted by mosquito bites, bee stings, and sunburns? Consult our guide for quick and easy remedies so you can sooth your burn, stop the itch, and get back to having fun.

Even if you have the reaction time of a ninja, mosquitoes can somehow find a way to leave you scratching incessantly. The next time you have a mosquito bite grab some basil, peppermint essential oil, or chamomile, from your cupboard to alleviate the itch. Basil is antimicrobial so gently rubbing a few leaves directly on the bite will help to relieve the itching. If you have peppermint essential oil in your home, mixing a few drops with water and applying it to the bite will help take the swelling away. Not only is a chamomile bath relaxing, but its anti-inflammatory properties will help sooth all your mosquito bites.

Despite being vigilant about wearing sunscreen, burns can happen. The best way to ease the pain of a sunburn is by gently rubbing aloe gel directly on the affected skin. Its anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, and antiviral properties will bring you instant relief. Apple cider vinegar and lavender are also amazingly useful when it comes to soothing sunburns. Mix whichever one you have in a spray bottle with water and spritz the burned area for relief.

The next time summer burns, stings, or bites you, save yourself a trip to the pharmacy by turning to your cupboards for natural DIY remedies.
