Part description

This is an approved OEM replacement part for 150 models of Whirlpool, Kenmore, KitchenAid, Roper, Estate, Inglis, Maytag, Crosley, Amana, Admiral, and Magic Chef Washers and Washer-Dryer Combos. For complete compatibility, please see "Model Cross Reference List" below. This is the newer version of this part, made with new metal sleeves for added strength. The Motor Coupling is located between the motor and the transmission on direct drive washers with no belt. If the drive system seizes, the coupling is designed to break to prevent the drive motor from damage. Consequently, this part may need to be replaced as your appliance ages. Symptoms of a faulty Motor Coupling include a washer pumping but not spinning, slow spinning, the washer will not agitate, and unusual noises. This coupling kit contains all the parts necessary to replace your existing Direct Drive Motor Coupling. Please note, that after replacing the motor coupling your washer may smell like burning rubber for the first few uses, this is entirely normal as the part becomes acclimated to the machine. Each is sold individually.

Motor coupler was broken.
The repair went very smoothly. Two days after I placed my order for a new coupler part from this site , I received it thru FedEx I went right to work by myself and installed the part. I used some basic tools: flat head screw driver, channel lock pliers, and small socket set. After turning off water supply and unplugging, I laid the washer on its back and begain to remove the motor and worn coupler. Making sure that the new part went back in place correctly. After checking that all parts was replaced I gave the washer a test. Success! The machine works as good as new!

Washer would not spin at end of cycle
Basically followed the video on parts page, but a couple of important notes. First, it is not necessary to remove the washer body as shown in one of the videos. Just tip it over on its back and everything was easily reached. Secondly, take the motor off first if you are replacing the coupling - makes it easier to lift it separately from the gearbox, and also holds gearbox for you while replacing the coupling.

Followed the video provided. Excellent instruction tool. Clear, precise, easy to understand and follow. Only problem, getting the outer case back on. No way to fasten at bottom, may have been bent, sprung? Finally wired case to tub frame since washer had to be lifted over small ledge in garage,Video great idea, Thanx.

Washer would not aleays spin in final cycle. Clothes wet.
Initially I followed the Video offered with this site. So I unplugged the Machine. Removed the Cabinet, removed water hoses, drain hose. Laid the Washer down, and replaced the clutch assy, direct drive motor coupling. I recommend to watch the video which is very helpful. First time I ever did this and it took about two hours. Washer works fine and it only cost me about $45.00 in parts. Saved a lot of money.

One day my washer stop spinning.
I went on the internet and saw how it was the direct drive motor coupling on my washer. I was kind of scared of trying to repair the direct drive motor coupling. so I went to the website of part select to she again how the video was showing how to repair it. It took me no time to replace the direct drive motor coupling. The video was very helpful and everything in the video was right. the only problem I had was putting the body of the washer back on. Installing the direct drive motor coupling was easy.

Removing shaft & clutch spring choice.
Instructions not clear if more disassembly required to disconnect shaft from agitator. (It wasn't, shaft slid out) Clutch springs supplied were blue and green. Instructions called for blue for large washer (already installed) Or spare BLACK spring for smaller cabinet. I stayed with the blue spring and it worked.

Strength
i basically followed the video instructions. I also turned off the water before disconnecting the hoses. I don't remember that being in the video.I had my bucket and mop ready for the water that was still in the washer, they don't mention that in the video either. putting on the coupling, it didn't slide on, so I had to position the hammer head on the coupling and tap on using the mallet for a flush fit. I had to do that on both couplings. May a stronger person could have done that, but I needed the hammer and mallet. I put it back together and walla, I did have to purchase new hoses since the other ones cracked when I removed them, they were old, so no big deal. Machine is running great.
