Part description

Designed for use with select models of Washers and Washer-Dryer Combos manufactured by Whirlpool, Kenmore, KitchenAid, Maytag, Speed Queen, Estate, Crosley, Roper, and Inglis, this is an OEM replacement part for your existing Direct Drive Water Pump. To ensure this fits your appliance, please see the "Model Cross Reference List" below. This pump is intended for use with washing machines that do not have belts. This drain pump has two ports for water to pass through: a large one, and a smaller one. The pump mounts directly to the motor with two clips. If the washer does not drain, leaks, pumps but won't spin, or fills and drains at the same time, then you may need to replace the Direct Drive Water Pump. Leaking water pump
Folded console back after unscrewing the two screws holding it to the cabinet. Removed the two clips holding the cabinet to the frame. Removed the cabinet from the frame to expose the pump. (Bottom Front). Removed the supply and drain hoses from the pump. Removed the two clips holding pump in place. Tried to pull pump from shaft of the motor. It was rusted to the motor shaft. Cut away the top two spacers on the pump. Was able to cut pump from the motor shaft with a hacksaw. Must be very carful not to cut into the motor shaft. Had to cleanup the motor shaft of the rust that had accumulated before installing the new pump. Used a file and sandpaper to dress the shaft. Installed pump with no issues after cleaning up the motor shaft. Reassembled the cabinet and console. Tested and no leaks. If a service tech would have had to do this I estimate a $ 250.00 bill not including pump. So that would most likley mean throwing the washer away and spending a minimum of $ 600.00 for a new washer. I have used this site for many repaire parts over the years with 100% success I can't stress enough that viewing the videos for the specific repair are a must to for the DYl.

Leaking from beneath the washer
Used my worx aerocart too rest washer on it's side, removed old water pump per instructions.Only Problem was the existing spring type braces used to hold pump in place had rusted & (1) of them could not be reused.Would be nice if the new pump came with new braces.Tied several hardware type stores, could not find, had to use a bungee cord to hold in place, not sure how long this will last. But no leak after several uses.

Motor would not spin at all.
First I removed the two screws holding the control unit to the top of the washer. I then removed the clips with a flat head screwdriver and was able to remove the washer case. I uninstalled the pump and found that it was jammed up with years of who knows what. I removed the hoses and the mount brackets to uninstall the pump and reconnected for the new pump. Super easy.

Water would not pump out of the washer
The video recommends that you lay the washer on it's back, I just placed a 4 x 4 under the front of the washer. this allows plenty of room to replace the water pump.
As it turned out I also replaced the " Lid Switch " since the washer is about 15 years old.

Washer was leaking water and the spin cycle was too slow
First and foremost I made the most out of watching Steve Ash demonstrate how easy the repair could be and that encouraged me to tackle the repair instead of breaking the bank and purchasing a new washer. I simply ordered the parts that were described by listing my problem and when they arrived in short time I viewed the video and was pleasantly surprised at the ease of removal and installation. My greatest surprise was when my washer didn't leak and spun the clothes like a champ!

Water leak from under washer, found to be coming from water pump
First I unplugged the washers electrical cord from the wall. Basically the pump can be changed without having to disconnect all the water hoses and discharge lines. What I did was pull the washer away from the wall about two feet. Next I leaned the washer back and leaned it against the wall so I could lie down and replace the water pump. I loosened the two clamps and disconnected the two lines to the water pump. Next I unclipped the two clips that hold the water pump from the motor. I pulled off the old pump from the motor. Then I installed the new pump and reinstalled all the other lines and clamps in reverse order. Very Simple!

Water was dripping out of the bottom front of washer during spin cycle
This repair went amazingly well. You do have to turn washer on its side. My son helped me diagnose the actual problem spot and what part we needed-pump. We found the part easily on this site and I had it back on the machine in about 20 minutes after receiving the part- which arrived quickly. It was not complicated and it was designed for easy replacement...... I'm a brave grey haired woman who wants to see things fixed rather than thrown away. If I can do it anyone can.

Had to unhook and move dryer out of way. Then unhook washer and move so I could tip it over onto its back.Removed retainers and pump, unhooked hoses.Installed new pump then put everything back place. Probably done in less than an hour.Biggest part of job was moving machines .

The washer was filling and draining at the same time during the rinse cycle.
To begin with, the two screws holding down the console were rusty so had to cut them off. Used a wire coat hanger to prevent the console from flopping forward as I slid the cabinet off. On my model, the back was one piece of metal so the console didn't set back like the video example. Once the cabinet was off, I tilted the washer backward to the wall to get to the pump. After removing the clamps I had to use a hammer to vigorously tap off the pump as the motor shaft was rusted inside the pump. So much for perfect engineering. Kenmore could have used a non-ferrous material here but they didn't. Once the pump was off and the shaft cleaned up, I slipped the new pump on, replaced the clamps, returned the cabinet, replaced the console, fired her up, and voila, she works. Thanks for the express service.
