Part description

Designed for use with select models of Washers and Washer-Dryer Combos manufactured by Whirlpool, Kenmore, KitchenAid, Maytag, Speed Queen, Estate, Crosley, Roper, and Inglis, this is an OEM replacement part for your existing Direct Drive Water Pump. To ensure this fits your appliance, please see the "Model Cross Reference List" below. This pump is intended for use with washing machines that do not have belts. This drain pump has two ports for water to pass through: a large one, and a smaller one. The pump mounts directly to the motor with two clips. If the washer does not drain, leaks, pumps but won't spin, or fills and drains at the same time, then you may need to replace the Direct Drive Water Pump. The washer was filling and draining at the same time during the rinse cycle.
To begin with, the two screws holding down the console were rusty so had to cut them off. Used a wire coat hanger to prevent the console from flopping forward as I slid the cabinet off. On my model, the back was one piece of metal so the console didn't set back like the video example. Once the cabinet was off, I tilted the washer backward to the wall to get to the pump. After removing the clamps I had to use a hammer to vigorously tap off the pump as the motor shaft was rusted inside the pump. So much for perfect engineering. Kenmore could have used a non-ferrous material here but they didn't. Once the pump was off and the shaft cleaned up, I slipped the new pump on, replaced the clamps, returned the cabinet, replaced the console, fired her up, and voila, she works. Thanks for the express service.

Washer leaking water near the front.
Couldn't have been easier, except that some upper body strength is required to lift up and tip over the washer. Then it's simply a matter of using pliers to open up the clamps and slide them out of the way on their respective hoses. Next remove the old pump by simply pulling it straight out. Now it may be a good idea to clean the shaft of electrical motor which dives the pump and make sure there is no loose rust. Now align the new pump onto the shaft and re-attach the hoses This is particularly simple because the input to the pump and its' output are different sizes, so you can't get it wrong. And now you are back in business with a non-leaking washer.

Old pump developed a crack in the housing.
I pulled the washer away from the wall far enough so that when I leaned it back against the wall I had enough clearance to access the pump. I removed the 2 hoses & undid the 2 spring latches, removed the leaking pump, installed the new one, hooked up the 2 hoses & the 2 spring clips. I then repositioned the washer so my wife could continue to have her way with it without getting her feet wet.

Water leaking from area of motor. Water pump was the only part possible cause. Shut of water source and empty washer. Tilt the washer back against the wall and placed the jack stand beneath the frame of the washer. Disconnected two water hoses with pliers. Removed two attaching clips connecting the motor and pump. Install new pump and reverse the procedure. Hardest part is laying on the floor. Clean beneath the washer before repositioning the washer. Hopefully you won't be back for 10 more years!

Washer leaking water and agitator not moving properly.
Washer is 11 Years Old. Noticed it was Leaking Water from the Front of the Machine, also Wife Informed Me that the Agitator was not Working like it Used to. I Watched the Videos on the site and then Proceeded after I Ordered a Water Pump and Agitator Kit. The Water Pump was Pretty Easy to do. I Plugged Drain Hose and took the Front off the Washer. I didn't Spill any Water on the Floor. This Job went Pretty Smooth. The Agitator was another Story as I Couldn't get it Apart. I watched Video Again and Found out You had to Place Your Feet on the Bottom Part of the Agitator and Pull Upward. I about Pulled My Guts Out but it Finally came Apart. I Put in New Agitator Kit and Put Everything Back Together. The Washer Now Works Great. Saved about $500.00 because I was Serious Thinking of Buying a New One. Now it's Happy Wife, Happy Life. Thank-you
