This is a 6-rib washer drive belt. It is sourced directly from the original manufacturer and constructed with a durable Poly V material. This part connects the drive motor to the drive system that turns the basket. This part is susceptible to wear and tear and will need to be replaced over the lifetime of your washer. Please be advised that this belt is very tight, and it can be difficult to get it around the pulley system. An installation tool may be required to perform this installation, which is sold separately.

I need to install a new 6-rib drive belt on my washing machine. The installation video & written directions both recommend using an "installation tool" to aid in getting the drive belt in place - what is the name of the tool and where/how do I buy it?
For model number GTWN4250D1WS

... Read moret all of the main parts the belt was starting to show wear. got a new one but as for the loud noise I found that the Transmission bearing went bad so ill have to get a new one. The job was not all that hard the nut was the main problem the seal was a bit hard to get off so i the whole tub out of the Machine had it upside down and put a screw driver thru hole and pop it out that way the tub bearing was the same way flip tub over a pop it out from the front when seal was out found it works better that way then the way it shows in the Video put a little liquid of soap around edge of seal it goes on much better Hope all this helps you out
The repair was not that difficult. I was able to have my son spin the tub while I helped feed the belt onto the pulleys. I used a zip tie to hold the belt on the larger pulley. I didn't purchase the belt install tool, but if I was installing on my own and had no help, the tool would almost be mandatory. Took less than 10 minutes from t
... Read morehe time I opened the front panel to running a new load of laundry.
Took the front off as shown in the video. Cleaned out all the old belt residue. Install the new belt per the video...Yes it is tight...but it can go on... very happy...I now have clean clothes...thanks
Followed the directions on the video and couldn't get it on after several attempts. I am the original Ms. fix-it and got really upset because it looked so simple.. I had the belt install tool on and couldn't for the life of me figure out what I was doing wrong. Broke down and called my 6' plus son-in-law, he had it on in no time. He
... Read moreshowed me how far back on the pulley you had to start guiding the belt onto the pulley and informed me that being 5'4" my arms weren't long enough to reach far enough back on the pulley to guide the belt on it early enough and it kept sliding off and going under the pulley and getting in a bind.. Instructional video was right on, I am just too short of a lady. SO IF YOUR A SHORT GREAT-GRANDMAMA DON'T BEAT YOUSELF UP, CALL A TALL PERSON.

Drive belt replacement on GE washer
The repair went well. The belt was a good fit, I found a You Tube video on the replacement. The only thing that was a problem was the shipping Fed Ex was terrible took 8 days to get it to me. They kept changing the delivery day.
