The bi-metal defrost thermostat is attached to the evaporator, and its purpose is to protect the evaporator from overheating when the defrost cycle is running. If there is frost building up in your freezer, or it gets too warm during the defrost cycle, there may be an issue with the thermostat. You can use a multimeter to determine if it is the thermostat or the heater itself that is faulty. If you do need to replace the thermostat, this is a genuine OEM part. As this repair requires some electrical work, please be sure to disconnect the power supply to your fridge before starting this project. You will need a Phillips screwdriver, a 1/4-inch nut driver, a flat blade screwdriver, wire strippers, electrical tape, and butt splice connectors in order to complete this repair.

Why is my refrigerator freezing my food even if I said the temperature to one on the refrigerator

You will need to check the thermistor, the electronic control board, the electric damper control, the evaporator fan motor and blade and the defrost timer. Took off back panel disconnected wires cut off senser And replaced with new one followed video provided put back to gether working great know thank you loved the help .
Removed all frozen food from freezer. Take out shelves and light. Remove six 1/4'' nuts from back metal shield. Take off shield. Cut and splice (with twist wire connectors) the pink wire and the brown wires from the main wiring harness. Tape with electrical tape. Put all back together. Actual repair takes about 20 minutes.
The refrigerator was not working proper and freezing up.
The cover over the defrost thermostat had to be removed the the cover over the filter in the far back. Next the cover over the water filter. The last cover would be for the defrost thermostat. I then plugged the refrigerator back in. Of course I have to wait for milk to though, but so far it is working fine.
Well, truthfully my husband did the repair. But I watched and held the flashlight! It was so easy I could've done it myself, and I will if it ever happens again! Great service from your company! We will be using you again when the need arises!
Evaporator frozen solid, fridge and freezer too warm
Defrost first, remove all freezer shelves, pop upper duct panel loose, remove lower bulb cover and bulb, remove rear shelf brackets on right side, remove six screws on rear panel pull up slightly and remove, note the 2 tabs it hangs on, take picture of wires and position before removal, unplug main harness connection, connectors to fan, g

Read moreround wire that slides onto the evaporator bracket in back and 2 other connections, unclip thermostat from evaporator tubing, cut brown and pink wires on main harness about an inch or so from main connector, be sure these are the ones that lead to the thermostat, strip wires and connect using red butt connectors, tape to seal well, the connectors I used had a heat shrink built into them, reassemble as removed. My thermostat was on top of the plastic connection between the evaporator and the tubing so I put it directly on the bare tube upon reassembly. Plug back in and monitor for a day or 2. Freezer icing up which caused insufficient cooling.
Unplugged. Cut old thermostat out . Used wire connectors ( the kind you crimp) on new thermostat. Then connected to existing wires from where old thermostat was removed. Waalaa!
